The heart of culinary convenience at The Handmade Kitchen Company!
If you have the space in your home, additional storage can be welcomed with a custom-built pantry, in a room on its own that mirrors the main kitchen cabinets. A walk-in pantry can take the pressure off the main kitchen, freeing up space and storage for other essentials. A walk-in pantry is a chef’s best friend and something you find in the modern home. The room can be designed with multiple shelves, drawers and cupboards to store dozens of ingredients, cookbooks, snacks, pots, pans, appliances and more, even power for small appliances.
The pantry was originally a small room dedicated to storing bread and bakery items, but by the mid-nineteenth century, the pantry had become an area to store dry goods and this remains the same until this day. It has reemerged as a staple in luxury and modern homes, offering organisation, efficiency and style to the home.
Walk-in pantries are a luxury to the home and unfortunately, not every house can accommodate one, but if you can they add significant value to the home too. They are cleverly concealed behind doors that bring images to the mind of well-stocked cupboards and drawers filled with sweet treats and key ingredients for budding chefs who can see everything clearly and easily. Dinner just got very creative. Additional crockery and utensils can also be stored away to keep the worktops tidy and clear, fitting in with the minimalistic kitchen design that is of today.
At The Handmade Kitchen Company, we have designed and built many different styles of walk-in pantries in our client’s homes. We have put together our project examples below for you to explore and get inspiration from.
Nazeing Project
Filled with artisan shelves, wicker baskets and ingredients decanted into glass jars, this walk-in pantry hosts plenty of advantages and shows how it’s an invaluable part of the home with its beauty and practicality.
Cuffley Project
We went beyond storage solutions in this home and built a room dedicated to pantry dreams. Only separated by a pocket door, this walk-in pantry elevates the kitchen essentials and revolutionises the cooking experience. We even added a sink area to bring a seamless and sophisticated kitchen routine throughout each of the rooms.
Orsett Project
In the open-plan kitchen neatly tucked away in the corner is an additional room we made with full-height cabinetry to create a walk-in pantry. It’s the ultimate culinary convenience we have ever seen, perfectly tucked into the corner of a spacious open-plan area. The doors to this room are made from our Mapesbury design with a push-to-open mechanism. Artisan shelves make the perfect layout with a Tongue and Groove backdrop and walnut pull-out drawers below.
Margaretting Project
Tapping into the property’s heritage is the traditional walk-in pantry we created for our client in Ingatestone. Elevating the kitchen experience and filled with features such as artisan shelves and open drawers, this space really reminds us of a traditional pantry that would be seen in the 19th century but with a modern twist.
HMK Showroom Project
In 2023, we updated our showroom with additional rooms including the walk-in pantry. The Handmade Kitchen Company team put their heads together and curated ideas to create a beautiful and practical walk-in pantry that would become the storage space you want and need! It features a combination of shelving, drawers and pull-outs in a U-shaped layout. Each shelf has been illuminated to create an ambience and an illusion of more space and hand-painted in an alluring green.

Woldingham Project
Mirroring the kitchen, this walk-in pantry replicates our client’s dreams of a functional and luxurious home. Featuring base and wall cabinets, the mix of bespoke artisan shelving adds a place to display glass jars full of ingredients and below is the Quartzite worktop.
Matching Green Project
This property already featured an existing walk-in larder, we just fitted a sliding panel door, bespoke drawers and shelving plus additional quartz surfaces for prepping.
Hutton Project
Classic artisan shelves fill this pantry in Hutton, Brentwood, maximising the storage space and displaying those jars and spices. We designed this dedicated room for our client to store their dry goods without the need to root through the cupboards and drawers to find that elusive key ingredient. The toaster and microwave are hidden here to keep out of view in the main kitchen area. We are loving the amount of worktop space available to keep those tasty desserts for later. A truly bespoke wine rack was also added to complete the entertaining aspects of the hub of the home and holds 25 bottles.
It’s more than just an addition to the kitchen, it’s a lifestyle upgrade that transforms how we use and enjoy our home. The walk-in pantry benefits the home in more ways than one from storage and organisation to enhancing the property’s value.
At The Handmade Kitchen Company, we love creating truly bespoke kitchens that fit you and your whole family’s needs. Contact us today to create a walk-in pantry that only your visions and dreams could create. We look forward to hearing from you.
