The traditional kitchen is becoming popular in the modern home where many people are becoming increasingly fond of this style. Classy, elegant, and long-lasting, it brings warmth, style and a homely feel to your kitchen life and a place where you can relax and lose yourself for a few hours. A traditional kitchen is timeless with a sleek and clean appearance, offering more personality and personal touches compared to more aremodern design.
Shaker style kitchens are renowned for their timeless quality and practical simplicity, so if you are looking for a kitchen that will still look fashionable in a decade’s time; then a traditional shaker is a great investment. Here at Handmade Kitchen Company, we craft and design your traditional shaker style kitchen from scratch or upgrade an existing kitchen to bring you a timeless classic.
The traditional style is considered in a few ways… People often think that this particular style is made up of natural wood, painted wood, a shaker kitchen or an elegant Edwardian and an opulent kitchen.
Today this design has doors that are set within a frame, known as in-frame. Kitchens as a whole today have become the main hub of the home to focus on family life, work with modern and professional appliances, and luxury materials for worktops, islands, and floors.
Each and every one of our bespoke designs are matched to your specific requirements and you can combine elements from our different kitchen styles to create your dream hub of the home.
Traditional projects
In our Cuffley project below it has been designed with raised and fielded panels on the doors and drawers all within a traditional style. Flat-panel drawers are found on the island and raised and fielded panel drawers on the main kitchen run. Charleston Grey by Farrow & Ball has been hand-painted onto the furniture which adds contemporary elements to this traditional hub of the home. The space is large, open-planned, and luxurious all within a modern property in Hertfordshire.
Our Winchmore Hill project was completed with our traditional shaker style in a very large space. With the clever layout of the furniture and large central island the large space never feels too large. The raised and fielded panels on the doors are super luxurious, while all the drawers are flat fronted for a unique look. The kitchen is hand-painted in a two-tone colour scheme – the main kitchen area is Cornforth White and the central island uses Plummett, both colours by Farrow & Ball. Our client is also a keen chef so they chose the ultimate in cooking appliances by Wolf, a Wolf Range top, built-in oven, steam oven, and warming drawer.
This stunning kitchen in Potters Bar below we created and built features our luxurious raised and fielded door and drawer fronts combined with the in-frame shaker beaded front frame. The space is made into three sections, the main run with island, the fridge freezer enclosure, and the utility/pantry – all of which feature the raised panels of the traditional style. Another two-tone colour scheme features within this kitchen – Blackened and DownPipe both by Farrow & Ball – a popular combination and a great layer of grey hues.
The Grade II listed property in Bobbingworth, Ongar is completed with our traditional shaker style that’s designed in a complex space to ensure it stays within the boundaries of the listed property. In-set cabinetry was built into as many walls as possible, giving our client a vast amount of more space around the dining table. The traditional shaker featured in this project is a little different from the rest due to the shallow recessed panel and a sunk in beading, which gives a timeless and classy look.
