It’s a new year and you may be thinking of renovating your home and adding that dream kitchen you have always dreamt about.
When it comes to planning that dream kitchen the layout is the most complicated part of the design process but ultimately the one part that will ensure you have a fully functional space working really well with your family and daily life. When it comes to designing kitchens at The Handmade Kitchen Company there is a huge list of things that will be going through our designer’s mind.
In this blog, we will look at the different ideas that help with project planning.
The client wish list
The client will determine how they want their space to work, so if it’s an open-plan space and you love to entertain, then the correct sized dining table will be incorporated into the design. Working with the client and creating a great working relationship with the client is very important to us at The Handmade Kitchen Company.
When planning and designing the ultimate dream kitchen, careful consideration and prioritisation are key in making the space work for the client. Below is a great example of an island that seats up to 6, it’s perfect for the whole family as well as entertaining guests.
The architecture within the interior
The room and available space you have will determine the layout. We can work with your architecture or interior designer to maximise the design with careful reconfiguration. Anything is possible!
The Hadley Wood project below was part of a huge home renovation project where a huge utility room sits behind and even a home gym. This essential space takes a huge amount of weight off the main kitchen and provides our client with easy access to do daily tasks.
Support from structures
Structural supports can really impact the layout of the kitchen design and we can certainly incorporate them in. The beauty of bespoke furniture is that you can usually find a way to disguise the structural support so it’s part of the design from the beginning.
When we worked with our client in the Hatfield Broad Oak project, we used part of the structural support to be included with the central island. The worktop is connected to the structure to act as a support and an overhang is produced for the ideal seating area.
The footprint in the space
As a general rule, we allow a metre walkway from one counter to another or counter to the wall. It is so important for the flow of the room to allow a generous amount of space to move around easily.
Thinking about cooking, if there are two people cooking at the same time this can affect how much space there is between the cooking run and the island.
At The Handmade Kitchen Company, we design and build luxury bespoke handmade kitchens that are made to fit – anything is possible. We work with the client to build their dream kitchen. If you would like to know more info contact today – we look forward to hearing from you.
