Popular kitchen design trends make an entrance into the hub of the home quite a few times a year. The pedestal table by The Handmade Kitchen Company will wonderfully add a loving element to a handmade kitchen and provide a timeless seating area that is cosy and functional.
With decades of experience and attention to detail, our truly bespoke handmade kitchens create a space of balance and optimum functionality. The pedestal tables can be made from beautiful raw materials such as oak and walnut, the choice is yours and turned on a lathe like in the examples below. They are sturdy and thick and can be placed anywhere in the kitchen, they look extra special at the end of an island. The top can be completed with the material of your choice, for example, choose from solid wood or opt for a unique finish from a beautiful stone.
Within our designs we are always looking at ways to minimise the footprint in the space available that you have in your kitchen, so we make our handmade furniture ideal for smaller, tighter areas.
Let’s take a look below at some of the different pedestal tables we have built and created in our client’s homes.
Winchmore Hill
Our traditional shaker sits in this hub of the home in Winchmore Hill, it has proved to be very popular throughout our social channels. It has been pushed to the limit and completed with award-winning cooking appliances from Wolf. One circular pedestal table sits centre stage on the end of the grand island and one sits to the left acting as a cosy dining area. Charcoal plush velvet button chairs complete both handcrafted tables following today’s trends in interior design.
The stands on both are made from solid oak hand-painted in Plummett by Farrow & Ball with a quartz top completing the design. The table on the island is raised above the surface slightly adding a special feature, making it stand out and acting as a separate piece of furniture. The dining table pedestal sits in the corner complementing a handmade TV cabinet. We can see many entertaining evenings happening in this beautiful space. Both seating areas start a conversation whether it’s with the cook or how tasty the dish is.
Potters Bar
A gorgeous solid oak pedestal table sits on the end of this central island, making the space inviting. It’s tall in height and circular in shape allowing five chairs to sit perfectly around. To create this bespoke table, it was turned on a lathe and a solid wooden top was chosen to complete the finish, making the piece of furniture appear separate from the main kitchen and provide a unique bar area.
The elements of the wood and the natural beauty complement the rich and bold Stiffkey Blue by Farrow & Ball. This blue has a lovely rich look and is the perfect colour to fit within this large open-plan space and the beautiful glow from the natural light.
Bishop’s Stortford
Our solid base has been incorporated on the end of the island to create a curved breakfast bar in this hub of the home with a lovely bespoke seating option.
The worktop is the Bianca Eclipsia Quartzite, a durable and beautiful stone to fit in with the traditional beauty of this Grade II listed property. The seating area has been designed rounded to differentiate between the main prep area and the comfy bar. It has been completed with four plush velvet comfy stools sitting in a circular row and adding to the other purple furnishings.
