In the City of Chelmsford, we recently had the pleasure of contributing to the design of a serene and spa-inspired dressing room combined with a bathroom in this stunning home. The design radiates classic elegance and a calming atmosphere from the style and materials chosen.
From the moment you step inside, the space invites you on a gentle journey of practical elegance and soothing calm with stunning views of the surrounding grounds through modern-shaped windows, including a triangular piece. Each design element guides you through a seamless transition of textures, tones, and moods, bringing happy times to morning and evening routines.
While we didn’t handle the sinks, taps, worktops, or bath area, our main focus was handcrafting the vanity for the bathroom where the his and hers sinks are situated. We then concentrated on the dressing table, wardrobe fronts and internal elements in the other part of the space, creating the luxurious dressing room. We worked carefully in the existing layout to produce this tranquil, spa-like dressing room and bathroom in Chelmsford. It really paid off and is exactly what our client envisioned.
It’s more than just a dressing room or a bathroom – it’s a personal sanctuary for our client to step away from the outside chaos. Whether our client is getting ready in the morning or unwinding at night, the space offers a mirrored rhythm of daily rituals that happen in a grounding and indulgent retreat, which we are proud to be a part of.
The Handmade Kitchen Company’s Classic Shaker Style
Our classic in-frame shaker cabinetry is seen at the heart, with plain front frames that add to the clean silhouette. It’s our most common style and for good reason, blending traditional joinery with a minimal, contemporary aesthetic that is perfect for both the dressing and bathroom areas.
A Soft, Spa-Inspired Colour Palette
We hand-painted the cabinetry in Caparol PU Matt Waterbased Topcoat in White, chosen for its ultra-matte, velvety finish and environmentally conscious formulation. This soft white tone contributes to the tranquil feel our client desired for the space while enhancing the room’s restful atmosphere.
Elevating the Cabinetry with Hendal & Hendal
The selection of Hendal and Hendal Belgravia bar handles and 35mm knobs in dark brushed brass bring warmth and richness to the space, contrasting beautifully against the soft white cabinetry. Further enhancing our handmade cabinetry are the antique brass butt hinges, offering a nod to traditional joinery with a refined modern twist.
Our Beautiful Bespoke Contributions to the Existing Layout
Our collaborative approach with our client allowed us to bring a bespoke feel to the already existing design, respecting the structure of what was already a functional space. While we didn’t complete the whole space, we still put our touch on the dressing room furniture and the bathroom vanity. Our bespoke contribution focused on designing handcrafted door fronts and solid oak drawers, which were thoughtfully tailored to the original spacing and rail placements already in place.
