Handleless Traditional Mapesbury Kitchen 103 & Other Rooms – Essex

Create a home that you L O V E !

In our client’s own words, “We are so happy with our kitchen it was worth the months of planning, sourcing the pieces to complete the overall look and style of the kitchen, it’s everything I dreamed of and more!”

Located on the cusp of beautiful countryside, this magnificent property has been subject to an extensive building project lasting over three years completely transforming the space into a traditional family home with modern touches and full of love! A house build doesn’t come without highs and lows, and lots of decision making but this is certainly an example of how to make this kind of project worth it in the end!

We are pleased and super excited to welcome you to our Mapesbury Project in collaboration with @buildandstyle

Knocking down a home and starting again is not for the faint-hearted and when you have an eye for interior design, creating a family home located in the beautiful British countryside, the kitchen is bound to be at the centre of the project.

The bright and welcoming space was key for this project, and incorporating bespoke design features for a unique look and maximum storage was a must! Our Mapesbury collection is a handleless design where large moulded doors are the focal point, absorbing the paint colour chosen. This kitchen will look wonderful at golden hour!

The choice of layout suits this space perfectly as does the soft off-white palette from Paint and Paper Library. This is Slate 1 – an architectural colour that is just so beautiful and works wonders in this clean and bright space.

The bar stools found online, were exactly the ones that would work perfectly in the new kitchen. The perfect mix of textures, the warm wood and leather tones complement the marble kitchen island so well. Being super comfy and the right height for the island, each beautiful chair works around the seating area. The dream was to have friends and family over, all sitting at the kitchen island eating, drinking and having fun.

As we take a look at the island, this is the heart of the space as it transcends into a utilitarian purpose with flawless functionality and beautiful aesthetics. Positioning the range cooker, dishwasher and sink area, allowed for the kitchen’s perimeter to include distinctive elements like a breakfast pantry and a secret hidden door leading to the utility.

Have you noticed the pedestal clad underneath the island made from marble? As we know marble has long been associated with luxury and sophistication. This marble-clad pedestal instantly elevates the kitchen’s look, providing a sturdy and durable foundation too! Embrace the timeless beauty of marble and elevate your kitchen island to new heights of luxury and style.

With the island having a generous surface, this also doubles as a functional workspace and a central hub for social interaction. We have achieved a social kitchen and executed it beautifully!

As described, it’s the range of cookers of dreams, the ILVE Majestic Milano sits pretty behind the island, perfectly reflecting its Italian heritage. This range cooker flawlessly combines beauty with functionality and is a match made in heaven for anyone passionate about cooking.

The unforgettable design has been combined with the Honed Marble splashback elevating the design and providing unparalleled beauty and elegance to the interior, making it a statement piece in this hub of the home.

Adding to the functionality of the cooking area are the Perrin & Rowe Pot Filler Tap and Westin Extractor Fan. Less hassle is made at meal times as the pot filler delivers water directly to your pots and pans.

When it came to designing the kitchen, getting the sink area right was super important.

A Quooker tap was a must for this home. It was something that was at the top of the kitchen wishlist as it made making a cup of tea so much easier with the instant boiling water and there was no waiting for the kettle to boil. Charlotte wasn’t keen on the aesthetics of having appliances on the worktop so the hot tap has eliminated having a kettle in the kitchen. Patinated brass was the finish with a matching soap dispenser, which is super handy!

The idea of a hand spray rinser to rinse plates before they go into the dishwasher and to clean the butler sink easily was also a feature that was wanted in the kitchen. It became quite hard to find a rinser that matched the Quooker, but after our client reached out to a company (Yardley Bespoke) they were able to provide and create the spray rinser our client needed for her new kitchen.

The tap, soap dispenser and rinser tap all look like they are part of the same collection and work perfectly in the kitchen and sink area.

Adding to the sink aesthetic is the Shaws of Darwin single bowl.

Other features around the kitchen included a breakfast station and drawers within drawers that organised the kitchen.  Being organised makes you feel less stressed and brings a sense of calm to the home. We all know cupboards and drawers easily become dumping grounds, so organising the small things will make you feel so much better.

Charlotte was in awe that marble is a natural, organic stone and how pretty they are, the patterns and colours mesmerised her. With so many decisions, a Honed Marble was picked, which she instantly fell in love with due to the delicate orange and greys found on the surface. Sourcing the marble from @imperialstonegroupltd this was then supplied to Sharpstone who fabricated it and designed stunning splashbacks and a solid base that sits beautifully underneath the overhang. This provided another level of support for the seating area and looked breathtaking.

This isn’t just a row of cabinets, there’s a secret door that leads to the utility! It adds mystery to your home, not only maintaining the aesthetic harmony of your space but also providing a seamless and practical solution for accessing utility rooms. The simple push of the cabinet doors reveals a passageway way to another part of the home!

Being an organised and tidy individual, our client was only too excited about the idea we gave her of a secret door. This meant that the mess could go straight into the utility room without it being on show in the main kitchen. A larger sink was chosen for this purpose and for washing the dog.

Along this run is where the integrated Fisher and Paykel fridge/freezer also lie and a day pantry.

Elevating the heart of the home with a functional utility hidden behind the cabinets of the kitchen! It provides our client with a space to keep laundry out of view and an area designated for the laundry. Designed in our Mapesbury just like the kitchen, the cabinets have been hand-painted in Slate 1 to give a fresh and appealing look.

At The Handmade Kitchen Company, we believe every corner in your home deserves the touch of exquisite craftsmanship and that’s why we design utility rooms that beautifully coexist with the kitchen!

Adding to further functions of the room are Fisher and Paykel appliances, solid oak pull-out drying racks, a Shaws of Darwin Butler sink, a pull-out spray tap and durable worktops with a beautiful splashback in Honed marble.

When designing and planning the utility, we knew it had to be a practical space for laundry, cleaning products and for the fur baby, Ralph. A larger Shaws butler sink was chosen to wash the boy’s football boots, soak pans and bathe Ralph. The statement gold tap not only looks amazing but is so handy, as it gives the rinse hose option which is ideal for rinsing things off in the sink.

The idea of the pull-out shelf under the appliances, makes chores an easy task, a more organised space and no more bending as everything is at eye level. Look closely underneath the cabinets and there’s a space just for Ralph! This incorporated dog bed allows Ralph to take a nap in a quiet surrounding or somewhere to go after a lovely country walk.

In our client’s own words, “The utility room has become one of the most used rooms in the house and if anyone is designing or planning their utility room really think about how you would like to use the space and what layouts work for you and your everyday life.”
