Classic In-Frame Shaker 92 – Wanstead, London
A stunning Victorian property in Wanstead, London with high ceilings and a dining/living area is the latest project to be added to our portfolio. It’s the perfect example of classical design and craftsmanship effortlessly blended together to match the heritage of the Victorian-style property.
The beautiful HMK Classic In-Frame Shaker has really brought this room to life with the added cock beaded front frame and recessed plinths. It’s a double galley layout with an island centred in the middle, fully making use of every wall in this perfect-sized room. It was important to use a mixture of built-in furniture, curved ends and full-height cabinetry to utilise every area and maximise storage.
From the elegant bespoke drinks cabinet with frosted glass to the practical yet stylish walk-in pantry, every element of this kitchen design is thoughtfully designed to enhance the functionality and aesthetics of the space to really make it the heart of the home.
One of the features we absolutely adore is the choice of colours. Our client opted for a two-tone colour scheme which included:
- Farrow & Ball India Yellow
- Farrow & Ball London Stone
India Yellow, a strong and moody yellow was hand-painted onto the island to bring a really cosy vibe to the room. To combine with the look our client wanted to achieve, the London Stone was hand-painted onto the rest of the kitchen cabinetry, for a timeless and modern accent.
It really is a great kitchen design to shout about with an inviting atmosphere!
The appliances lie within a gorgeous structure that is fully built into the wall and sits opposite one end of the island. It features two 300mm full-height pull-out larders on either side and an overhead storage cupboard with a soft close hinge.
The appliances include a Neff Single Oven, a Neff Steam Oven and a Neff Microwave, one on top of the other in a sleek and convenient way.
On one side of the galley layout is where you’ll find the Fisher & Paykel Fridge/Freezer. Two 400mm full-height pull-out larders are built on either side with large overhead storage with a soft close hinge. The traditional cornice is a beautiful touch and flows across the wall, creating the illusion of another built-in unit.
Not forgetting the hob area on the island. This is where the Neff Hob is located with a Faber Fabula Plus Downdraft Hood. A place where the cook can take in their beautiful living surroundings and still socialise with their guests.
Next, we take our attention to the sink area. Which includes a Shaws of Darwen Butler 1000 Sink, a ZIP Hydro Tap G5 Classic Plus Instant Hot Tap and a Renaissance Bridge Sink Mixer – Bristan.
To complete the traditional look and provide hardwearing surfaces, our client opted for the Solarius Granite – an attractive, rich golden granite with highlights of dark veins through the slab to provide contrast. It’s such a delightful material and you can see a whole slab for the island and a stunning splashback behind the sink.
The island plays an important part in this luxurious open-plan space. As previously mentioned, it’s the home for the hob, but also has a curved seating area where guests and family members can plan exciting days out or just have a good ol’ chit-chat!
To form the sturdy structure it’s built with solid oak furniture legs and plenty of storage, including deep pan drawers, a recycling bin, bespoke chopping boards and a serving tray.
The handles found throughout the kitchen are from the Sutton Collection by Armac Martin – a sleek circular grooved design brings definition to the timeless kitchen. Our client opted for them in Chocolate Bronze Plate.
Of course, there needed to be a bespoke drinks dresser. This particular design was built into the open-plan space and features frosted glass, a large prep area made from Solarius golden granite (featured in the rest of the kitchen) and illuminated shelves to store the spirits, glasses and much more. It brings together the whole of the space.
What else could our client add to their Victorian-style property? Open shelves to display an old-fashioned cash register, sewing machine and scales! We absolutely adore this!
Housed in a room adjacent to the open-plan space is the walk-in pantry, boasting the same level of craftsmanship and attention to detail throughout. From full-height cabinetry and prep space, every part of the day’s cooking is stored efficiently and made easy to get to.
Also adding to the room functionality is a handcrafted bench seat with storage underneath, hanging space above and a shelf. A rather convenient boot room too!
