We bring you a timeless charm from a Victorian property in Islington where darker, traditional woods have resurfaced. It’s a space that balances luxury with everyday life and completely transforms our client’s London townhouse.
Our client chose a handmade kitchen to sit at the heart of the home, this was our Classic In-Frame style with a low profile beaded frame and inline plinth. Throughout the space metallic finishes and leather upholstered bar stools contribute to the modern ambience our client wanted to achieve in their renovated home.

The space envelops you in a dramatic yet inviting atmosphere. The dark green tones are balanced by brass handles, marble quartz worktops, and light-coloured stone flooring, ensuring the ambience is striking without being overwhelming.
Obsidian Green by Little Greene was hand-painted onto the cabinetry. This colour is a deep green paint shade often used to provide a dramatic backdrop to natural wood furnishings. A paint full of character that further enhances the walnut internals and the polished Valencia quartz worktop found around the kitchen.
Positioned perfectly, the kitchen island steals the show, not only because it accommodates culinary activities but also provides a spot for guests to sit! HMK kitchen layouts with islands are the most popular, we design them to accommodate both culinary activities and social gatherings.
This island in particular is where the main sink is located, complete with a stainless steel Quooker PRO3 Flex and Cube and a Franke sink in stainless steel. On the opposite side is seating for 4 guests and extra worktop space.
A well-appointed kitchen means choosing premium appliances that guarantee exceptional performance in the heart of the home. This kitchen design in particular knows how to deliver professional-level cooking with the choice of Obsidian Black Miele appliances. They include a Miele Oven, a Miele Steam Oven and a Miele Induction Hob.
Along the main run is where you find the suite of Miele appliances, the bank of ovens and a hob complete with a Westin Vault extractor above.
The breakfast pantry, it’s a cabinet where elegance meets unparalleled functionality! It hasn’t been designed just for storage but to revolutionise our client’s cooking experience for the most important meal of the day.
It comes equipped with a sophisticated tap from Quooker (PRO3 Fusion Round – stainless steel) and a stainless steel sink from Blanco, perfectly complemented with walnut storage shelves and a durable quartz worktop.
The morning routine has been transformed and sophistication has been rediscovered in this beautiful piece of handmade cabinetry.
This one-of-a-kind pantry offers a range of benefits that go beyond storage solutions. It’s the ultimate in customised organisation with bespoke walnut shelving and a walk-in feature that integrates into the overall kitchen design.
It’s both beautiful and useful and when the floor-to-ceiling doors are opened the walnut internals are revealed and the effect is breathtaking. Each handcrafted shelf is displayed with clear glass jars decanted with everyday ingredients, while walnut racks on the doors are perfect for storing the smaller jars of herbs and spices. This stunning pantry has also been the storage space for smaller appliances to finally have a home. This means they are stored out of view and the kitchen can be a clutter-free environment.
Our client has organised it so well that they won’t forget what they have in this elegantly organised space.
Enhance the centrepiece of your home beyond expectations, and design a bar area under the stairs! This made sense so an awkward gap wasn’t left. Our designer came up with this idea to fill the space with plenty more storage and create something truly special in this Victorian property that flowed smoothly from the kitchen into the beautiful dining space.
This is The Handmade Kitchen Company’s bespoke bar, meticulously crafted and painted in the captivating shade of Obsidian Green by Little Greene. A luxurious element completes the room of entertainment.
The inviting dark green and walnut bar area adds an element of sophistication to the open-plan space. Illuminated with integrated lighting, the stunning collection of glasses for every occasion sits on walnut open shelves and wine glass holders. The selection of tasteful drinks has been placed on the quartz shelf. Both collections stand out as a striking feature that impresses guests.
It’s the epitome of luxury for avid cocktail makers and home entertainers. The walnut slats bring character, warmth and textural elements to the space, while the Valencia quartz isn’t just a surface, it’s your canvas for crafting your favourite drinks with sophistication and durability.
This unique entertainment area is complete with a mirrored backdrop beautifully catching just the right amount of light, making everything on the shelves sparkle. Plus, with the Siemens wine fridge, the wine is always served at the perfect temperature.
Something else that finishes the design is the choice of pull-out shelves. These walnut drawers generously store other bottles and drinks for entertaining.
