At the Handmade Kitchen Company, we are proud to have been associated with Essex, Hertfordshire and the surrounding area since 1999. No doubt, if you are reading this, then we are local to you!
Operating out of our traditional workshop in Matching Tye, Essex, we handcraft all of our kitchens for our clients, in-house. Of course, many tasks are completed using modern machinery, to ensure a higher quality finish but there are finer details where the hand-touch and skill of a master cabinetmaker is the only way.
From 1999 until April 2019, we operated out of our Epping showroom on the High Road in Thornwood. As you will see from the pictures below, it was a quaint little space, with actually more examples of our furniture than you might imagine, it certainly grounded us as one of Essex’s top handmade kitchen companies.
Fast Forward to 2018
In October 2018 we opened our new showroom in a converted barn on our family property, this barn was named Bridgers Barn and is a testiment to our family heritige and drive to converting what was a very run down farm building into something so beautiful and spectacular.
This is where we are based today, having continuously refreshed our displays each year, safely welcoming people throughout the COVID-19 pandemic (when we were allowed to open) and recently in 2021 building an additional two commercial properties on our land, which are being fitted out with whole-home furniture such as bedrooms, studies, and soon to be the UK’s first DeManincor showroom.
We invite you to visit us to see the quality of our work and the friendly reception you will get on arrival. Book a showroom appointment.
Supporting Local Businesses
We are local to many household’s in and around the Hertfordshire and Essex area, sitting just on the border between the two counties and proud to have worked on many client’s designs and completed kitchen projects locally. We love it when we receive feedback and future recommendations, especially locally to us.
So how can you support businesses local to you? There are several ways to support local businesses in your community, you don’t always have to make a purchase to be impactful. We look below at each one in a little more detail.
Writing a review
Leave a review. When leaving a review it helps inform others what the specific business has to offer, how well they did and what improvements they can make. It’s always good to be honest and detailed in your review.
We encourage our clients to write reviews on Google particularly, as it is connected to the business location and therefor supports the business locally as well as further afield. We do not offer bribes or payment for reviews, they are always genuine.
Follow and engage through social media channels
Support local businesses by following them on their social media channels. These days many people are on social media, so follow your favourite business on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest.
When you have followed these pages, you will see updates whenever the business creates new content. Engage with the content by liking, commenting, sharing or even tagging your family and friends in the comments. By engaging with the content it helps the business owners and marketing teams with what content to push out there, enjoyed by the masses!
Use the business’ hashtag when sharing about them. Not only does it help their followers see more related content, but it also helps the business find you! So next time you’re about to hit share on a new post, add the business’ hashtag and tag them. They might even share your photo!
Subscribe to emails
Subscribe to the business’ emails keeping up to date on what each one of them has to offer. Most businesses have some sort of email strategy where they are looking to add more to their list.
Emails sent from the business will include much more content compared to a typical social media post. You also have the opportunity to forward on these emails to coworkers, family and friends.
Word of mouth
Writing reviews for the company makes a huge difference, but ‘word of mouth’ is still a meaningful option. They add a personalised element and many people still rely on taking suggestions from family and friends.
Facebook has even added a recommendation feature, where Facebook friends can tag the business in the comment section.
