Classic Shaker Kitchen 82 – Upminster

Creating a relaxing atmosphere and a two-tone colour combination was the aim of this kitchen space. Filling it with our bespoke handmade Classic Shaker furniture, a contemporary feel is made in this newly renovated property in Upminster, a suburban town.

Our client decided to improve their home and add value to the property by extending the back and making a beautiful open-plan space that is the kitchen, a dining room and a snug area.

The room connects to nature and the greater outdoors with large bi-fold doors and low seating so the views aren’t blocked.

Right from the beginning when we first met our client, the vision was clear on how to approach the design and add pops of colour where we could. The cabinetry was designed into an L-shape which is hand-painted in a two-tone colour scheme consisting of Blackened and Stiffkey Blue, both by Farrow & Ball.

Blackened is a cool white with a slight hint of grey and Stiffkey Blue is an inky navy, which has a beautiful depth to it.

This part of the kitchen is the cooking area where a stunning Rangemaster Dual Fuel Range Cooker sits in a slate finish. It’s complemented with an antiqued mirror splashback and a gorgeous bespoke mantle.

We love this view of the sink, it shows the Kubus Ceramic white sink and a Perrin & Rowe Juliet tap in an aged brass finish in lots of detail. How beautiful do they look paired with one another?

Where the sink was designed, to make things easier, the dishwasher was placed below.

Where the island is situated and looking from this side of it, the landscape is framed and the whole entire width of the living space is opened up to the great outdoors. There are so many windows to soak up the views from above with the roof lantern too.

The kitchen island was high up on our client’s kitchen wish list and it was a must to create something that was easy to perch at, prepare dinner and consisted of lots of storage. We hand-painted this in Stiffkey Blue by Farrow & Ball, creating an eye-catching feature.

Without compromising on space this handy unit for your morning coffee comes in handy. Designed with bi-fold doors allowing it to be opened up into the room and shut away when not in use.

Do you have an obsession with being organised, how handy is this cutlery drawer?

Where the connection lies with the outdoors with only a glass divider, an outstanding piece of furniture lies within the walls so our client can binge-watch a series and grab a glass of wine. Favourite decorative items can be stored here too.

The ultimate media/drinks unit, hand-painted in Stiffkey Blue by Farrow & Ball – an inky navy, perfect for creating dramatic spaces and features.

What completes this is the open shelves, and closed cupboards beneath to conceal game consoles, internet hubs, DVDs, remote controllers and other items you may not want to be displayed. A full-height integrated wine fridge is also incorporated into the design to make outdoor entertaining successful.
