Classic Shaker In-Frame Kitchen 85 – Clavering, Essex

Where the ‘clover grows’, this property in Clavering is set in an idyllic and tranquil village in northwest Essex perfect for a HMK kitchen to be placed. From ideas and plans to the ultimate space for every occasion, this is a kitchen design as impressive as they come.

We welcome you to step in and tour our Classic In-Frame Shaker a little more.

Expanding the room to a large open-plan space we can see a simple L-shape that fits within the structure and a nice-sized island zoning the dining and living space. Our handmade cabinetry was designed and used in other areas of the room’s structure (fridge housing) and even through to the utility.

When discussing with the client what colours they were thinking about, blue was thrown into the mix as they wanted to create a delicate charm that represented the clear skies on a summer’s day. Cooks Blue and Borrowed Light was chosen as the final paint colour choices, both by Farrow & Ball.

We hand-painted Cooks Blue onto the island – a rich and vibrant blue and Borrowed Light is seen everywhere else – a pale and illuminating blue that evokes the colour of summer skies. It was the perfect colour palette for our client and we adore it.

The island is the place to be to enjoy your morning coffee, soak up the evening sunset and fill every hour in between.

Being fully functional allows for a place to sit, store kitchen essentials and items that might not be used regularly and create an impressive worktop space that can make prepping those dinner parties a little easier. To continue the wooden features throughout the design, the island is complete with bespoke chopping boards and serving trays to either end.

An S-Box pop-up socket is also built into the top of the island.

When it comes to the choice of fixtures and fittings and appliances, we work with some of the best in the industry. Choosing a British manufacturer to tie in with our British handmade furniture is sure a beautiful one.

A Shaws of Darwen sink completed the sink area – a double bowl, farmhouse style which was placed underneath the window with gorgeous marble-style quartz surrounding it. Taps are from Perrin & Rowe with a Quooker for instant boiling water.

Moving on to the handles, these are the Perrin and Rowe smooth large knobs and shells – a stunning detail to the in-frame cabinets.

Neff appliances are seen on the main kitchen run in a black gloss finish.

Our client loved the thought of a marble-style worktop in their new hub of the home but knew that they needed a hard-wearing surface for their busy family life. There are plenty of worktops on the market that resemble the look of marble and when our client looked at some samples the Valencia Quartz stood out the most.

Upstands were added to the perimeter of the kitchen and a full-height splashback finishes off the hob area beautifully.

The day pantry is a common feature that is found on the kitchen wish list for various reasons. We have implemented them in so many of our designs and with the right amount of space and bespoke characteristics, the ultimate day pantry is created. This one is completed with spice racks on the back of the door and solid oak internals.

A full-height pull-out larder is also designed into the fridge housing.

We can’t forget to mention the utility room that is adjacent to the main kitchen. This is where you will find a flow of our classic in-frame shaker, the same versatile quartz worktop and the perfect amount of chrome handles. The utility cabinets were hand-painted in F&B’s Borrowed Light just like the main cabinetry in the kitchen.
